This study is to investigate the mood state of elderly and to contribute to the welfare of elderly. The subjects were 345 elderly persons over 60 years living in Seoul, Kyonggi-do, Chungchong-do, and Kyongsangnam-do. The tool used in this study was POMS corrected and verified by Shin(1996). The results are as follows : the average value of total mood state was 1.51 and that of anxiety-depression factor was 1.39, that of vigor factor was 2.30, and that of angor factor was 0.74. The mood state of elderly showed significant difference according to gender, age, job, marital status, education, economy, and source of pocket money. That is, the elderly in case of male, 65-69 years, existence of job, more married and educated, richer, and spending a pocket money single-handed were the best mood state.
